SEWING CLASSES

The sewing classes are being organized and taught by me, Roberta Varney, owner of Cool Threads Shop. I tried to answer most questions below. However, if you have more questions, please contact me; the Hobby Lobby staff do not have specific details other than the times that classes are scheduled.
Classes will be held in the Hobby Lobby classroom. As you enter the store, turn left by the shopping carts. The door to the classroom is on the 'front wall', tucked among the seasonal goods. There is a large CLASSROOM sign on the door.
MAKE AND TAKE
ADJUSTABLE APRON
Level: Beginner
All ages from 8 years old and up are welcome. I do request that children under 16 years of age be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Dates/Time:
August 23rd 1 - 4
August 24th 1 - 4
Note: Sign up for ONE class. The apron will be completed within one afternoon.
Fee: $15.00, plus fabric choice (see below)
Fabric: Please purchase your fabric ahead of class. You will need a total of 1 yard.
I recommend a nice medium-weight 100% cotton (see and feel the sample apron in the lobby of the store). The fabric should be similar to a cotton shirt. Avoid a heavy fabric, it will become bulky where the strap goes. (Ask me if you aren't sure)
OPTIONS:
1 yard of all the same fabric
OR
If you want the strap to be contrasting, you will need 2/3 of a yard for the apron, and 1/3 yard for the strap.

I am really excited to offer this class to the public. I have been sewing all my life (a very long time), and want to share my passion.
This class is designed for lots of fun and to introduce all ages to sewing. Even if you've never sewn before and can't thread a needle, be sure to join me. I am very low-key and the class will be casual, helpful, and interactive!
DESCRIPTION OF APRON:
The apron has an unusually long strap that is designed to slide into a side 'casing', loop around the neck, then slide into a side casing on the opposite side...tying in the back.
This design allows the apron to be adjustable for all sizes (and shapes). Since the strap is not sewn directly to the apron, the apron can slide up or down to adjust to the wearer's height. Yet, it is a very simple design to sew!
A sample is in the entryway of Hobby Lobby and displayed on a mannequin. Feel free to check it out!
